The introduction of obligatory e-invoicing in India has taken place over a few stages. First, it was introduced on a voluntary basis in January 2020 for companies with annual aggregate turnover of more than INR 500 Crore. After that, starting from 1 October 2020 e-invoicing became mandatory for companies with annual aggregate turnover of more than INR 500 Crore. And from January 2021 the obligation will cover companies with turnover of INR 100.
